Controversial film #1: CANNIBAL HOLOCAUST
Hey everyone, I’m back! Missed me? Of course you did! Anyway, the play I was in ended last night and it was very emotional when it came to an end. During our production weeks, I was thinking of a fellow commentor’s suggestion of a post I should do, which was on controversial cinema. I thought it was a brilliant idea and I’ve decided to create a guide to controversial movies. Each post that is a part of this guide will contain a mention of a controversial film and the reason(s) behind its controversy.
Let’s begin!
Cannibal Holocaust

Cannibal Holocaust gained controversy during its release, not just for its extreme nature but for being mistaken as an actual snuff film, since it was advertised as a film containing people who were killed by cannibals whilst shooting an a documentary on cannibalism. One of the taglines to this movie is ‘in 1979 four documentary filmmakers disappeared in the jungles of South America while shooting a film about cannibalism… Six months later, their footage was found’. Cannibal Holocaust director, Ruggero Deodato had to give evidence that this movie was not real, since he was being pressed for murder charges. Indeed, none of the murders were real, except for the ones involving real animals, which still makes this film quite notorious to this day.

It sounds like The Blair Witch Project. Three students were in the woods filming a documentary on the legend of the Blair Witch. They were then killed by the Blair Witch. But their footage was found, and now we’ve decided to release it in cinema’s worldwide! And isn’t it convenient that the compiled footage is just the right length for a movie?!

Interesting you say so because ‘Cannibal Holocaust’ is known to be the film that inspired ‘The Blair Witch Project’.

Judging by the absense of a rating, am I to assume that this flick is completely and utterly dreadful?
Sorry I couldn’t attend that play. I had filming to do, homework to do and since you (dare I say it) promised to be an actor, we had to reschedule several times. Fortunately, Andy is now taking all of your positions and is more enthusiastic about it.
Wonderlands, I’m afraid to say, had good intentions – but the dialogue was clunky and it seemed to lack robustness.
Glad you enjoyed it though…

Actually Reuben, I’ve read many positive reviews about this film. I have yet see it.
Thanks for getting Andy to take over my roles. However, I’d be more than happy to still be a part of Electro Muskrats. I now have more time on my hands, dare I say.
Wanderlands did have some cheesy dialogue but last year it was a work in progress production. This year’s production of it was the real thing.
