We all need to at least start somewhere in screen acting

Posted in Other Posts on August 31, 2007 by maxieg18

The headline is very true, most screen actors tend to star as extras in either films or TV shows, however some can even star as one of the very main roles in a film; I’ll give you an example of how they can: the actor and director Sylvester Stallone started his acting career in 1970 before he became famous after Rocky. He starred in a film now known as Italian Stallion or what was known back then as The Party at Kitty and Stud’s. Guess what type of film it was?

If you guessed drama, then you’re incorrect. The correct answer is porn. Yes, Sly started his screen acting career all thanks to a porno. I wonder if he’s now embarrassed about this fact.

In conclusion, need I say more?

There is dead silence about when this film is coming out in Australia

Posted in Other Posts on August 30, 2007 by maxieg18

How long does it fucking take for this film to come in Australia?! It was released in America about FOUR FUCKING MONTHS AGO!!!!!! A film from America would take about a few weeks or a month or two for it to be released in Austrlia but this film has taken longer. What’s the film? Dead Silence.

God-fucking-damnit, please tell me when it’s going to come out in Australia!?

Watch the trailer below.

TOMMY

Posted in Movie Reviews with tags on August 29, 2007 by maxieg18

In film-as-text class, we were introduced to the world of Ken Russell by watching Tommy, a rock opera with a killer soundtrack involving artists like Eric Clapton, Elton John, Tina Turner and obviously The Who, since Roger Daltry (the lead singer of The Who) is the main star of this film.It also contains an appearance by Jack Nicholsan who we also hear and see him singing.

Tommy is about the life of a boy named Tommy (first played by Barry Winch and then played by Roger Daltrey) who’s blind, deaf and dumb but then discovers his hidden talent making him become a famous religious icon worldwide.

Director Ken Russell handles this film very well with its soundtrack and visual imagery, making you feel like he’s bashing your senses senselessly with a sledgehammer due to its unsubtle nature. I just could not look away from the screen when watching this.

This film is absolutely insane! You need to see it to believe it.

SAW IV scene

Posted in Clips on August 28, 2007 by maxieg18

This is one of the scenes in the upcoming sequel known as Saw IV. Doesn’t look bad although I hope it’s got more storyline than gore, unlike Saw III. Either way, I’m gonna watch this film because I cannot leave the Saw series unfinished.

More controversy for a gay Hollywood film

Posted in Other Posts on August 27, 2007 by maxieg18

Have you seen Strange Bedfellows or I Know Pronounce You Chuck and Larry? I’ve seen neither (although Strange Bedfellows doesn’t look too bad), however, I’ll tell you the story line for both films: Strange Bedfellows is about two straight firefighters who pretend that they’re gay in order to recieve higher financial benefits.

I Now Pronounce You Chuck and Larry is about two straight firefighters who pretend that they’re gay in order to recieve higher financial benefits.

Yes, you read correctly. They’ve both got the same storyline, but which film was first? Strange Bedfellows was. Unviersal Pictures claim it’s not since I Now Pronounce You Chuck and Larry was in production before Strange Bedfellows was, but that would obviously be a lie because Chuck and Larry is an unauthorised remake of Strange Bedfellows. Michael Caton (one of the main stars of Bedfellows) did say that he gave Rob Schneider a copy of the script when he was working with him in The Animal and then Rob Schneider gave it to Adam Sandler and guess what happened next?

The moral of this post is if you’re wanting to remake a film, at least get authorisation before you remake it, otherwise you’ll get a lawsuit filed against you and you could also be known as a ‘liar’.

ANOTHER BETTER TOMORROW coming up

Posted in Other Posts on August 24, 2007 by maxieg18

I’ve enjoyed watching the A Better Tomorrow trilogy. The first film was good, but not great, the second one was awesome but the third one was the best (although it had fuck-all to do with the first two).

However, about a year later, I was browsing on imdb.com and I noticed when I clicked on the movie connections for the film A Better Tomorrow, I noticed that on the followed by list, the last link was Another Better Tomorrow (2009). That’s right, a sequel to the A Better Tomorrow series is coming up in about two years time. AWESOMENESS!!!!!!! Goddamn, I cannot wait until it comes out, I reckon it’s gonna be so awesome!

So in conclusion, please pardon the pun I made in the headline for this post.

SOSBS NOW!!!!

Posted in Other Posts on August 23, 2007 by maxieg18

Besides watching the movie channels on Foxtel, if I can’t be bothered renting a film I can watch some of them off a free-to-air channel known as SBS (Special Broadcasting Service), all unedited (as-well as watching them on Foxtel as well). I’ve loved watching some of the films uncut and also uninterrupted by ads.

However, I watched the A Better Tomorrow trilogy on SBS. Although it was shown in they’re uncut forms (thankfully), I couldn’t help but notice it was interrupted by bloody ads! SBS has changed now. Why? Why do they have to interrupt programs with those annoying ads? There used to be a time on SBS when the ads would show after the program has finished and now it’s no-more. However, this can be stopped by simply going onto the link below and sign it’s petition:

One of the best pickup lines in cinema history

Posted in Clips on August 22, 2007 by maxieg18

Guys, are you having trouble picking up girls? Well watch this fantastic clip from the film Shark Attack 3: Megalodon. Believe me, this is guaranteed to work on any girl you meet (oh and if you’re watching this Reuben, you might recognise a familiar face from Doctor Who).

Anyway, watch and learn.

A master of cinematic action has enetered the world of gaming

Posted in Other Posts on August 21, 2007 by maxieg18

There’s no denying that John Woo one of the greatest action movie directors of all-time.

After his film that he made in Hong Kong in 1992 called Hard-Boiled, he’s made a sequel but instead of a movie, he’s made it into a videogame called Stranglehold.

It’s a bit of a disappointment that it’s not a movie but hey, it’s gonna at least allow Hard-Boiled and more John Woo films that were made in Hong Kong to be distributed onto DVD in Australia…I hope.

It will be available on Xbox 360 and PS3 and they’re both consoles I don’t have and I probably won’t be bothered buying one, however, I’ll probably play it if a mate of mine has got the game.

Also, in multiplayer mode, the bartender (John Woo) from Hard-Boiled is even a playable character!

Wath the trailer to the game below.

By the way, to those who think it looks like a rip-off of Max Payne, well let me just say that without John Woo, there would’ve never been such thing as Max Payne.

These two kids could’ve had awesome acting careers

Posted in Other Posts on August 19, 2007 by maxieg18

Important: This post is not an attack on the following, I’m glad that they’re living good lives and I wish them all the best of luck.

Which two kids? Danny Lloyd and Harvey Stephens. Let’s start off with Danny Lloyd, who played as the very disturbed little son from the 1980 film The Shining. He decided that he didn’t want to be an actor so he became a biology teacher. Here’s what he looked like in The Shining:

And now he’s a biology teacher (apparently he’s supposed to be a cool teacher) and here’s what he looks like today:

Now, Harvey Stephens played as the terrifying son of Satan, known as Damien in the The Omen (1976). He also decided that he didn’t want to be an actor, so I think he’s now a real estate agent. Here’s what he looked in The Omen (1976):

And here’s what he looks like today:

(the picture above is just his small cameo appearance The Omen (2006))

These two guys were awesome in the films they acted in but I’m more than glad that they chose what they really wanted to do.
